This turbulence ensured, among other things, that Van Lanschot Kempen had to collect a price loss of 3.3 billion euros on the 150.6 billion euros in assets that customers have entrusted to the bank. For example, the stock markets got big blows in April when US President Trump announced his first tariff plans.
Investment of ING in Vorsogensbank van Landschot Kempen perhaps strategic
The recovery that then took place, however, was then accompanied by a decrease in the dollar rate, which was at the expense of the efficiency on assets that had been invested in the United States. According to the bank, the result of bond investments and ‘alternative solutions’ was also under pressure in the past six months.
However, the total amount under management rose, because customers entrusted to the bank for 4.6 billion euros in extra assets. Partly because of this, commission income rose by 11 percent to 279.6 million, which could not fully compensate for the decrease in interest income by 21.1 million to 71.1 million euros. The lower net interest income does not come unexpectedly and the bank thinks with this post for the entire year to still come to an amount of between 155 and 165 million euros. Partly because of this, the net result fell by 9 percent to 67.8 million euros.
Robert Swaak
Van Lanschot Kempen announces in a separate press release, to nominate Robert Swaak, until only three months ago ABN Amro, as a commissioner. In his previous job, he also strongly focused on the market for asset management, on which Van Lanschot Kempen is active. The largest bank in the Netherlands, ING, also did this in March against the will of the Van Lanschot Kempen board, took an interest of more than 17 percent in the oldest bank in the Netherlands.
