Borussia Dortmund reacted to the thin personnel ceiling in central defense and secured the services of Aaron Anselmino. The Argentine U20 international moves from Chelsea to Dortmund on a loan. The loan is limited until June 30, 2026.
BVB Managing Director Lars Ricken said: “Due to the injuries to Emre Can, Nico Schlotterbeck and Niklas Süle, we were forced to adjust in the central defender position.” According to Ricken, Anselmino already brings experience from the first division of his home country and is a player with great potential. The fact that FC Chelsea equipped him with a long -term contract last summer shows the appreciation for the young defender.
BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl also praised the newcomer: “We have already observed Aaron at the Boca Juniors in his times.” In the current situation, he is a very good solution. Kehl emphasized that Anselmino had already demonstrated its quality at a young age – even under emotional conditions. You want to integrate it quickly because it is needed immediately.
The 20-year-old will wear the number 28 with the Dortmunders. He successfully completed the medical check on Monday. A first assignment is possible next Sunday (5:30 p.m. in the T-Online Live Tickier) if BVB meets Union Berlin at home.
