Sports director Lutz Pfannenstiel was released from his tasks at the St. Louis City SC. This was announced by the penultimate of the Western Conference of the MLS, where the transfer window has been closed since last week. President Diego Gigliani and the technical director John Hackworth lead the fortunes until a successor is found.
In the summer of 2020, Pfannenstiel took over the post as sports director at the then re -founded club from St. Louis. “These decisions are never easy and with the legacy that Lutz built here during his time, he will always be part of the expanded city family,” said Gigliani. “Since we enter the next phase of the long -term plan of the club, upgrading the region and helping both the team and St. Louis to exploit their potential, the next five years will be extremely important, and we believe that changing in sporting leadership will help the club to persecute its goals.”
CEO and member of the owner group Carolyn Kindle added: “Lutz was one of our most important newcomers in the early days of the club and deserves so much recognition for our early success.” Weltenbummler Pfannenstiel attracted some compatriots to St. Louis, with Ben Lundt, Timo Baumgartl, Marcel Hartel, Eduard Löwen and Cedric Teuchert, five German professionals in the squad.
