The fire in the Caravanloods broke out on Sunday evening around 7.30 p.m. and was under control a little tonight after 9 p.m. It was soon scaled up to ‘very large fire’.
The enormous clouds of smoke could be seen in the wider circumference. Several video images were shared, among other things from The highway and all the way from Amsterdam-Noord.
Miles of cycling to see the fire
The fire, and especially the huge cloud of smoke, attracted a lot of attention in the village tonight. From far and wide people came to the fire, something that according to the safety region is not the intention. For that reason, the police dropped a large part of the area.
A resident from Aalsmaar tells our reporter that he was on the BBQ when he suddenly saw a gigantic cloud of smoke hanging above the village. “We immediately got on the bike and looked at whether we could get closer,” he says. Another resident says that he has cycled 13 kilometers to see the fire: “I have never seen anything like that,” he says.
