Once there was a time when the inhabitants of Fluitenberg met again and did not meet again on the street or on racing corners to catch up. Sometimes that was also allowed in the school building, but it was not ideal. We are talking about more than fifty years ago.

Then in the village suddenly a special meeting room with a roof for all Fluitenbergers is rising. That building is given the name ‘t Overchotje and that requires further explanation, according to a resident of our province who is looking for RTV Drenthe’s Section for this.

“Because,” that’s how the questioner writes, “that’s a very strange name, don’t you come up with anything like that?” And so the editors of find it up rolls up to dive in deeper.

“With the surplus,” says a lady who picks up the phone in the village hall. To my question where that name comes from, she does not have an right answer. “It has something to do with an old shack of the football club in Pesse or something, but you better call our chairman Roelof Dekker, who knows much more about it or someone from the football club SV Pesse.”

The first I speak to the football club in Pesse is the chairman, Arend Steenbergen, also known for agricultural organization LTO and also Boer. He knows that the football club was founded in 1969. “Then there was indeed a shack or a wooden canteen, a short time later we got a stone building. But if you want to know more about it, then you have to call Roelof Winters, it will be there from the start, know everything about the association.”
