Mark Siekman (40) from Barger-Oosterveld received a royal ribbon on Saturday. Mayor Eric van Oosterhout surprised Siekman tonight in the canteen of the local football club, which at that time celebrated its eighty year anniversary.
Siekman receives the award because of his commitment as a director for the club. He debuted as a board member at the association at the age of 21. He is also a trainer of the first women’s team and secretary of carnival association De Helkante Steen, for which he controls everything: from permits to sponsorship recruitment.
Siekman has also been organizing the annual Emmer Sportgala for two years.
