Only in 8th place in the Süper Lig
Around six weeks after his departure from West Bromwich Albion, coach Valérien Ismaël faces a new challenge. First had “A spor“ reported in Turkey, the former Bundesliga professional is negotiating with Besiktas Istanbul, an agreement is imminent. Now reports theimage“-Zeitung, the 46-year-old should be presented on Friday and initially receive a contract until 2023.
Note: The first version of this article appeared on Transfermarkt on March 20th and has now been updated.
Previous reports in Turkey assumed a one-year contract with an option for another season, which could draw the table night of the Süper Lig. Ismaël, who has worked for LASK and FC Barnsley since leaving VfL Wolfsburg in February 2017, this deal would bring in a salary of 750,000 euros per season, according to “A Spor”.

Accordingly, Ismaël, who will succeed Önder Karaveli at the “Adler”, should be able to use the international break to prepare his team for the duel on Sunday (April 3) against the sovereign leaders Trabzonspor. In the event that Besiktas does not come to an agreement with Ismaël, Daniel Farke was considered an alternative option. The 45-year-old German had terminated his contract with FK Krasnodar on March 2nd.
After the championship in the pre-season, Besiktas threatens the weakest performance of this millennium. The lowest finish in 35 years was a 6th place under coach John Toshack after the 1997/98 season.
