Lewis Hamilton came to Ferrari with great expectations. But so far it is not going well for him. His situation is reminiscent of Michael Schumacher once at Mercedes, says an expert.
Ferrari does not run as expected for the seven -time record world champion Lewis Hamilton. The Brit is only in sixth place in the overall ranking of the drivers. According to the former Grand Prix pilot Christian Danner, Hamilton has similar problems as Michael Schumacher once at Mercedes.
“If a driver doesn’t get what he is expecting from the car, he cannot call up his potential. Think of Michael Schumacher at Mercedes. The car simply didn’t fit there either,” said Danner in an interview with the sports show “Ran”. After his comeback, Schumacher drove for the silver arrows between 2010 and 2012 – and only made it to the podium once.
Danner therefore sees the seven -time world champion Hamilton at a turning point. The Munich man believes that Hamilton underestimated the challenge. During the summer break, the Brit had to clarify whether he wanted to go the team’s path of the team – or whether he was trying to change it in such a way “that they do as he likes it”. However, Danner says: “Both cost energy and is open to results.”
Even a resignation of the British “cannot be ruled out,” Danner continued. However, he also orders an early end of Hamilton’s career as unlikely: “He is a fighter, wants to prove to the world that he can still do it. I personally believe that he stays and pulls it through.”
