Laura Dahlmeier’s death is still moving many people. Old companions in particular cannot classify the drama that happened weeks ago.

The family day of the German biathletes in Reisbach in Lower Bavaria has had a particularly quiet moment this year. The athletes of the German Ski Association (DSV) reminded of their former teammate Laura Dahlmeier, who was fatally ancient in a climbing tour in the Karakorum Mountains in July.

Franziska Preuß, who was traveling with Dahlmeier in the World Cup for many years, was deeply moved in an interview with the program “BR24Sport”. The two were “Mega”, said the 31-year-old. Intensive years have been experienced. “I was very grateful that I had the Laura at my side. Because she was a bit more rational.”

As a special moment, Prussia remembered the 2015 World Cup in Finnish Contiolahti, in which both medals won. That welded them together. While Dahlmeier quickly celebrated great success afterwards, she took a little longer, said Prussia.

She thinks of her long -time companion several times a day. “It is difficult to grasp,” she said. She can hardly imagine seeing Laura “with ski tour skis over her shoulder or with cross-country skis in her hand”.

Biathlete Johannes Kühn also commented on “BR24Sport”. It was “definitely a shock”. Only when the first World Cup is no longer there in winter and Laura will no longer be there will you really understand the whole thing.

Simon Schempp, partner of Franziska Preuß and long -time team -mate Dahlmeier, also spoke about the tragic loss. He was “shocked” when the news came – also because you had experienced many years together, said the former biathlete.

He was particularly remembered by the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, where Dahlmeier won gold twice. “They are very nice memories in terms of sport,” said the 36-year-old. Childhood dreams had come true for both of these games. After her career, she did what she felt like ” – and went her own way.
