Participants Jules Burgdorf and Mieke Hakvoort are fully enjoying the event. In addition to their coachman, they have the task of puncturing the ring on their stick. “Gang is everything and not bitches,” says Burgdorf about the tactic to be followed. “My coachman knows very well where to drive and then it will usually be fine,” adds Hakvoort.
The main prize to be won has been named since this year after the board member Siem Huijberts, who died last year. He was affiliated with the West Frisian Folklore for years. His daughter, Daniëlle Seegers, managed to win last year, when he was still there. “We are going to do our best again this year. But we already have that last year in our pocket. That was very special so what happened this year is all fine.”
Winners
The West Frisian Folklore benefited from the good weather today. Dry, and a nice temperature to go out. There was therefore a lot of public in the city. During the ring stitches it was clearly told whether a hit or wrong was being stabbed. The ‘OEHs’ and ‘Aaah’s’ were not off the air. At the end of the day, Anita van Son and Romé Baljet turned out to be running away with the win. They were allowed to take the cup home.
