Ben Askren is recovering. Former US fighting athlete Ben Askren, 40, went on a big operation at the end of June when he underwent a lung transfer. Former UFC, Bellator and Olympic-level wrestler became ill in the spring with severe pneumonia caused by staphylococcal infection. He was hospitalized and was in a critical state in Las Vegas.
