DFB captain Giulia Gwinn lacks the footballers of FC Bayern for the competitive game.
After her knee injury, the 26-year-old right-back will not be fit for the Supercup duel against runner-up VfL Wolfsburg on August 30th in Karlsruhe Wildpark, Bavaria Director Bianca Rech said in a digital media round.
Gwinn is still in rehab, but is on “a very, very good way” and will start the season promptly, Rech said before the Munich -based team on FC Bayern Campus against Spain’s runner -up Real Madrid (4:00 p.m.).
Gwinn, who was elected to the footballer of the year together with national goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger, had contracted an inner ligament injury in the left knee at the European Elf of the German Elf on July 4th in St. Gallen (2-0) and had failed for the rest of the tournament.
Lena Oberdorf is making progress
It looks better and better with Lena Oberdorf. “She will play an important role, but we’re going with her step by step,” said the new Bayern coach José Barcala. The 23-year-old ex-Wolfsburg native had torn the cruciate ligament in July last year and only completed her first missions at test games for FC Bayern this summer.
