Will Timo Glock also stay with the McLaren team Dörr Motorsport in the DTM in 2026? Before his comeback season, the ex-formula 1 pilot said that the project was laid out in the long term and that it would like to stay “two years” as long as he did not have “in his hair after three months”. But is this plan still after the difficult first half of the season?
“Yes,” replies the 43-year-old in an interview with “Motorsport-Total.com”. “I have more motivation than ever, so that it works in the end.” In addition, Glock sees the team that won the first Pole with Youngster Ben Dörr at the Nürburgring, regardless of his personal location.
“The fact is that we made a jump,” he argues. “There were no McLaren poles, no McLaren-Eins-Zwei in free training last year. It was rare that a McLaren drove along, but we can do that at the moment.”
This step can be “not discussed away. And now it is important to take the next step and have two constant cars and to implement it.”
Timo Glock about DTM season 2025: “Can’t be where we want to go”
The current difficulties of much more experienced teams also reinforce Glock in his view: “We are there for the second year, and an experienced team like Abbot with last year’s master Bortolotti is fighting with their problems. This shows how competitive this championship is and what is important.”
The current results – two tenth places in Lausitz and at the Nürburgring are so far the highlights in Glock’s comeback season – but are not in the foreground for him due to the long -term project.
“For me it is not the topic of whether I am now tenth, eighth, thirteenth or fifth, but counts for me that we are not yet where we have to be,” he says. And adds: “We cannot yet be where we want to go.”
Technical director Dörr on Glock: “Goal to continue working with him”
That is why it is his “task to sort out these things with my experience so that we can develop a basis with which we can drive around podium places, to drive championships or whatever. That is the goal.”
But does the team from Frankfurt also want to continue working with Glock in the coming season? “We played with him with open cards with him from the start,” replies technology chief Robin Dörr. “He knows: The whole project is scheduled for three years. And the goal is definitely to continue working with him,” he says.
Glock is also much closer to the top than the team in the previous year, said Dörr. This shows that “Timo can turn on the steering wheel. And his statements help us and are one of the reasons for the success that we have already achieved. He helps us immensely with his experience to get further forward.”
