There has been a debate along the official feedback channels and in social media. There has even been talk of school meals.
– On a general level, I say it sounds sad if the child is not given the opportunity to eat at school. I’m sorry for this kind of reflection, says Kokkola’s Cleaning and Food Service Manager Jutta Koivuniemi.
Also in a news release sent by the city, Koivuniemi emphasized:
– We are very sorry about the mistake. We are upset that children have not liked food.
Negative feedback on school food has come in hundreds of pieces since the food production method was changed in July.
– Before, food was prepared in seven different manufacturing kitchens, from which it was transported warm to service kitchens. Now the food is made centrally in four production kitchens, two of which are made by cold manufacturing methods, meaning that the food is transported cold to the service kitchen where it is cooked before serving, Koivuniemi says.
– We look at the situation in what kind of repairs can be made.

– School food is a topic that is sensitive to discussion and feedback. We make school food with a big heart. It’s important to us because we know that for many children or adolescents, it may be the only warm meal of the day, he says.
