The Canadian cyclist Michael Woods will end his career after the 2025 season. This was officially announced by his team Israel – Premier Tech on Monday.

Michael Woods hangs up his bike after the 2025 season and ends his extremely successful career. The 38 -year -old Canadian announced his resignation at the end of the season on Monday in a press release from his team Israel – Premier Tech, for which he has been driving since the 2021 season.

“Every time I drive a race, I feel immense luck to be able to do it,” said Woods. “Driving through France while watching billions of people is my job – and that’s crazy,” said the Canadian with a view of the Tour de France, in which he has been taking part in a total of five times since 2019.

“As much as I was as lucky to be able to practice this job, he also has disadvantages. The consequences he had for my health are significant. And the time I spent far from my family was long,” explained the upcoming bike pensioner.

“A trip that I am damn proud”

He had had to recognize over the years that the job as a cycling professional was not easy to agree with that of the family man. “In contrast to most other sports, professional cycling is a job due to its extensive calendar that requires infinite commitment.”

He does not regret his decision, but you can only do the effort for a certain amount of time. And his time has come, said Woods.

In retrospect, it was “Madness. I managed to become one of the best cyclists in the world at the age of 25 and did not know anything about the sport at all. This is a trip that I am damn proud of,” said the 38-year-old, who, among other things, won a stage at the Tour de France, three daily sections at the Vuelta and Bronze at the world championship.
