Poels debuted in the Vuelta in 2011 and then made an impression in the stage with finish on the Angliru, the famous climb that was also included in the course this year. He finished second in that stage, but later received the stage win after a disqualification by Juan José Cobo. In 2023 he again won another stage in the Tour of Spain. He finished twice in the general classification.
Huub Artz makes his debut in the Vuelta in a big round for his team Intermarché – Wanty. He is also the only Dutchman in the selection of the Belgian team.
