Sandro Wagner’s debut as Augsburg coach was bumpy, but in the end it was successful. The coach was not subsequently laid by significant words.
Sandro Wagner blew his cheeks and blew through vigorously. The debut as a head coach at FC Augsburg was a hard piece of work – and the relief was correspondingly great. “Everyone already noticed at the journey to the stadium, today it’s about something, today is the order of the day,” said Wagner after the 2-0 (0: 0) Bundesliga club at Halleschen FC of an “emotional” day.
With energetic gestures and a lot of effort, Wagner had made his contribution to moving into the second DFB Cup round on the sidelines and was able to cheer at the end of a surprisingly exciting game.
Steve Mounié (52nd minute) made Augsburg with his goal in front of 14,000 spectators against the brave fourth league club. Samuel Dessende (79th) made everything clear with the second FCA goal.
“We did not pay good attention to in switching moments. Halle had his chances. I am very happy that we won,” said Wagner. Until the Bundesliga start on Saturday at SC Freiburg, however, “there is still a lot to do, even if we had won higher”.
Nevertheless, the trainer also had praise for his team. In the days before the game, he noticed a too relaxed atmosphere in the team, but the players had assured him that they would deliver on a precise manner with a kick -off, Wagner reported and saw the promise fulfilled. “My realization is that I have a team with eggs that is there to the point,” he therefore praised, based on the famous saying of goalkeeper legend Oliver Kahn, who once addressed the demand “eggs, we need eggs” to his team.
