A leading group of 16 Rensters remained together for a long time, but Lotte Claes and Marthe Truyen took two kilometers from the finish with two. Soon they drove half a minute ahead.
What seemed to turn on a titan duel, got a dramatic turn a few kilometers before the end: Claes went down in a sharp turn. Truyen did not hesitate and left her companion behind. Despite a deserving attempt to return, Claes came close in the final phase, but it was ultimately the young Truyen who drove solo. For her it is already the second Belgian engraving title.
