PSV trainer Peter Bosz is concerned about the injury that striker Alassane Pléa sustained on Sunday in the away match against FC Twente won 0-2. The French attacker dropped out in the first half after a hard tackle from Robin Pröpper and could not continue.
“I saw his right knee a bit nodding away. Of course that is not good,” Bosz said afterwards. “Let’s hope it’s not so bad.” Pléa was taken over from Borussia Mönchengladbach this summer and started the season as a striker, also because Ricardo Pepi is not yet fit and Luuk de Jong left for FC Porto.
The cause of the injury was a duel in the penalty area. Pröpper defended himself afterwards: “You see that I play the ball.” The referee and the VAR did not intervene. Yet the situation remained worrying. Bosz: “It didn’t look good. Hopefully it is not serious.”
If Pléa falls away for a longer period of time, it can have consequences for the composition of the selection. Bosz does not want to anticipate that yet. “Let’s hope not. Pepi is back quickly and with Pléa we have two good strikers.”
