Last week FC Volendam had to extend the turf in a while. An inspection of the KNVB showed on Friday 8 August that the field was one meter short (104 meters instead of 105). The club has added half a meter to grass behind the goal to meet the requirements.

An additional problem is the lack of goal line technology. “Because the field had to be enlarged a meter at the last minute, there is a small deviation in the Hawkeye camera system. This means that the VAR will not use the camera if it cannot see whether or not the ball is about the back line,” the club writes on its website.
