The soil vibrates and trembles under Kiruna. In the 145 kilometers above the polar circle, they dig deeper into iron ore. That provides Europe steel, but undermines the land on which the city stands. The Swedish state mine company LKAB therefore decided to relocate large parts of Kiruna in 2004. Thousands of homes already moved.
