Good start for the German record champion into the new season: FC Bayern was largely convincing against Stuttgart.
FC Bayern cheered on the first title win of the new season: With a 2-1 win against VfB Stuttgart, the German record champion won the Franz Beckenbauer supercup on Saturday evening. Harry Kane had given Bayern in the lead (18th), 75 million-euro newcomer Luis Díaz in his first competitive game (77th). In added time, Jamie Leweling scored the connection goal (90.+4).
Stuttgart had a strong phase in the middle of the second half, including a good chance of Leweling (75th). But Manuel Neuer was always there and was able to prevent worse things.
Incidentally, the bosses of VfB Stuttgart had clearly announced before the game that there would be no negotiations with Bayern because of Nick Woltemade and that the German international stayed in Stuttgart.
FC Bayern clearly gave the tone. Leon Goretzka came to two degrees in the first five minutes. After almost 20 minutes, Kane used a thick mistake of the VfB defensive. Defender Luca Jaquez fought off the ball directly in front of the Englishmen’s feet on the penalty area – and he hit the left corner flat.
In the middle of the first half, the Stuttgart and Woltemade also got better into play. The attacker initially had a heavy one against his in the duel as a squeamish guard Upamecano, but then suddenly the 1-1 on his foot. From a short distance, he failed to Neuer, who had previously been there against Josha Vagnoman.
Konrad Laimer (26th), again Goretzka (34th) and Michael Olise (38th) awarded further opportunities for the guests. VfB also had one or the other good offensive campaigns in the overall very entertaining game.
Stuttgart Deniz Undav opened the second round with a free kick over the goal (50th). Two minutes later, Bayern’s Olise would have put the ball into a new teammate Diaz on a counterattack, but instead got stuck with a shot. The game, in which Sebastian Hoeneß was in a competitive game as a VfB coach on the sidelines for the 100th time, became more heated.
In the 63rd minute, Stuttgart’s goalkeeper Fabian Bredlow, who again represented the stricken stem keeper Alexander Nübel, prevented the early KO of the Swabians. After Woltemade missed the 1: 1 against the newly reacting new (75th), Luis Díaz made it all clear to the Munich team. FC Liverpool’s star obligation hit the Bayern title after a cross of the busy Serge Gnabry. Leweling’s hit did not change the success of Bayern.
