Robert Jung was born in Crailsheim in 1944 and grew up in Kaiserslautern. After the youth at 1st FC Kaiserslautern, Jung moved to FK Pirmasens as a defensive player in 1966. Jung played 250 games for the second division club. He later looked after clubs such as FK Pirmasens, Kickers Offenbach, RW Frankfurt and FSV Mainz 05 as a trainer. In 1990 Jung made a young player a full -back: Jürgen Klopp. Jung’s son Denis is also connected to the club as assistant coach of the second team of the FKP.
