Unrest arose in the Oosterduinen near Norg, after the municipality of Noordenveld has adjusted the administrative function of homes. These are houses that previously had the ‘living’ function. Now there is ‘accommodation’: only use for recreational stay or temporary shelter.

That’s where it pinches. The Oosterduinen is a forest area near Norg with holiday homes and houses that are permanently inhabited. According to the book, the latter is illegal, but there has been a process for years to legalize this.

“Nobody has been informed and that only causes unrest,” says Johan van de Garde of the Association of Homeowners Oosterduinen about the administrative change. “We had to find out ourselves and they can’t explain what the consequences are.”

That is why the association is now legally investigating what the consequences will have. More than seventy inhabitants have now made an objection to the municipality. They want the change to be reversed.

One of those inhabitants is Tjakko Jansen. He also finds it strange that the function has changed. “The purpose of the objection is that I can rely on something if the change does have consequences. Then the municipality cannot only say sorry and leave it there.”

The adjustment was made in the so -called basic registration addresses and buildings (BAG). According to both Van de Garde and Jansen, this could, for example, ensure that the tax authorities do not pay a rent subsidy to people who live permanently in the Oosterduinen.

Van de Garde hopes for clarity soon, so that it can again be about legalizing permanent habitation. “We have been working on this process for 10 years and are quite far. We want every stay, permanent or not, to be official. Point.”

A spokesperson for the municipality of Noordenveld says that the municipality is consulting about the issue next Monday. After that, the municipality wants to inform all residents and there should therefore be more clarity.
