Lammi Luten from Ruinen died at the age of 75. That has confirmed a dear friend to RTV Drenthe. The mother of Andrea Luten, who had murdered in 1993, died on Wednesday evening in a hospice in Hoogeveen from the effects of lung cancer.
Two years ago her husband Roelof died on their estate in Hungary. Lammi Luten lived in Meppel for the last years of her life, but because of the metastatic lung cancer she was finally transferred to the Hospice in Hoogeveen.
She does not come home from school on 10 May 1993. All alarm bells go off and a search follows. The next day, father Roelof finds the lifeless body of his daughter in the Gijsselterbos. Andrea is a little bit of the route that she cycles to school every day, from Ruinen to Hoogeveen. She appears strangled and raped.
The murder of Andrea Luten causes a lot of commotion in Ruinen and the surrounding area. The search for the perpetrator is difficult, despite a DNA trail found on the body in the form of a pubic hair.
Lammi Luten showed herself in the years after the murder of her daughter of a militant side: tirelessly she brought the case of her 15-year-old daughter to the attention. She wrote two books following the murder of her daughter. And Luten would not rest until the perpetrator was found and tried.
That eventually happened in 2010. Henk F. Hoogeveen appears to be the perpetrator, confesses the horrible act and gets a 15 -year prison sentence.
Lammi Luten visited him in prison in 2014: to look straight into his eyes. “After that I never thought of him again,” she said. Incidentally, Henk F. has been free for several years after he had served two thirds of his sentence.
On Sunday evening the condolence takes place in the Stobbe in Ruinen. The funeral takes place on Wednesday.
