The medical committee of the Spanish football league has officially classified Marc-André Ter Stegen’s back operation as a long-term injury. At FC Barcelona you breathe up.

This enables the highly indebted FC Barcelona to officially register Joan Garcia for league games as the new number one in June.

This formal act was preceded by a violent and partly public dispute between “Barca” and his long -time German regular keeper. Ter Stegen apparently initially refused his club to pass on his injury report to the league.

The FC Barcelona then initiated a disciplinary procedure against him and withdrawn the function as captain.

Ter Stegen is now captain again

It was only last week that Ter Stegen agreed to forward his medical data. Since then, the 33-year-old has been captain of the Spanish master again despite a downtime of several months.

Long-term failure – the classification is crucial

Its classification as a long-term injury is important for the club for financial reasons. In this case, according to the statutes, “Barca” can use 80 percent of the salary of a failing player to register a new player.

Barcelona is likely to use this money to register Garcia, who came from the city rival Espanyol for around 25 million euros. Then he would replace ter Stegen as a gate goalkeeper.
