Autistic aunt van Egbert (59) from Groningen collapsed as an 8-year-old in a Japanese camp. ‘The flower in her dead hand has been stored’

Els Mulder (92) lost her sister Alda (8) in a Japanese camp in the former Dutch East Indies in 1944. Since 2020, her son and visual artist Egbert Pikkemaat (59) from Groningen have been making the exhibition war stories of Indian and Moluccan Groningers in the Martini Church since 2020 on 15 August.
