A little further on the Pa de Langeplein, a number of local residents are enjoying the sun. They know who the car belongs, but do not want to feed rumors. “We don’t get involved with that. I want to continue to live here.”
In January, a few blocks away, another car went up completely in flames, Then on the Cornelis Evertsenplein. So something happens more often in the neighborhood, they say. “It’s a very quiet neighborhood,” says a woman, dripping her voice’s sarcasm. Another adds: “It is old overie, that is a bit part of it here. It’s just a working-class neighborhood.”
The local residents are clearly not impressed by what happened in their neighborhood. “I am more shocked that I didn’t even wake it up,” says one of them. “Imagine that I sleep through it when it happens here at the door and I can’t save my children …”
Research into a fire is still ongoing
The investigation into the fire is still ongoing, The police announced earlier today to NH. Arson is not excluded. “The forensic investigation is conducting research today and neighborhood research is also being done to find out the cause,” said a spokesperson.
The car was next to an electric charging station, but that seems to have nothing to do with the fire for the time being. “It seems to be a petrol car.”
