This year’s transfer summer has it all. This is because the clubs are allowed to sign players for the first time in two different periods. Due to the club World Cup, the first transfer window for the participating clubs was open from June 1st to June 10th. The regular transfer window is open from July 1st to September 1st.
At T-Online there are an overview of the most important rumors and changes from Germany and the world.
Lewis Holtby has found a new club – and changes to the Netherlands. The 34-year-old joins Nac Breda and signed a contract there until 2026. The change is free of charge after his contract had expired at Holstein Kiel.
The central midfielder has plenty of experience: 225 games in the Bundesliga, 137 in the 2nd Bundesliga, 38 in the Premier League and 21 in the Europa League are in his vita. Stations included HSV, Schalke 04, Tottenham Hotspur and Mainz 05. He also played three caps for the DFB team.
“I felt a lot of trust in the conversations that I have held with those responsible for the club and I am very happy to start here. Let’s go,” said Holtby. Breda’s technical director Peter Maas said: “With Lewis we have a lot of experience for our team. In the conversations we immediately felt a connection, also because he is a real enthusiast and crowd favorite.”
In the meantime, the Erkelenzer native had also thought about moving to Dubai, but has now decided to stay in Europe.
After the farewell to Captain Lukas Hradecky, runner -up Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Janis Blaswich committed as a replacement. The 34-year-old, who had already been nominated for the German national team in 2023, switched from RB Leipzig to the Rhineland and is likely to be number two behind Mark Flekken. At Bayer, Blaswich receives a contract until 2027.
Blaswich was active as a loan at Red Bull Salzburg last season. “Now play for Bayer Leverkusen, for the top -class club of my home region and one of the best clubs in Germany, is outstanding,” said Blaswich. “I am absolutely enthusiastic about what to expect.”
