Satu and Veera are looking for clothes for those who never find anything in flea markets or vintage stores. This is a sign of professionalization of the industry

A new phenomenon has been launched on the Finnish vintage fashion market. Vintage and second hand clothing packages can be purchased in pre-assembled packages that take into account the customer’s wishes for style, colors and material.

For example, a translucent shirt with rhinestones and a embroidered top would be suitable for a girlish, 21st century party style. Walk-in Closet

Another of the founders of the Walk -in Closet Vintage Movement Satu Reiman says that their Style Bundle service they started a month ago has been asked.

– It has exceeded expectations. In Finland, many vintage clothing sellers do not do these yet, so you will notice that this is what you have wanted, says Reiman.

Buying a clothing package is done in an online store where the customer meets his or her wishes for a map. It examines the size of the desired clothing package, the customer’s dimensions and clothing sizes, the style and colors he wants, and whether to buy a package, for example, for an opportunity, such as festivals.

Currently, Walk-in Closet sells 5, 10, 15 and 20 packs of clothing. The smallest package costs € 165 and the largest € 580. The price of a clothing per garment calculates depending on the larger the package.

In addition, the customer sends the inspiration board he has assembled to the sellers, where he has collected pictures of his comfortable clothing and styles.

Before assembling the package, there is a consultation with the customer to go through his wishes once. The consultation can also provide tips for combining certain pieces of clothing.

Style Bundle packages make it easier to combine clothes. Two denim clothing can be combined with a trendy Double Denim style. Walk-in Closet

When customers’ wishes are clear, the sellers will assemble the clothing package according to the order. Reiman and his colleague Veera Sjöstedt Products for clothing packages from suppliers from all over Europe.

The customer may, if they so wish, may affect the selected clothing before sending it, as it often sends pictures or videos to the customer in advance.

“However, some customers want to keep the content of the package as a surprise,” Reiman says.

For a popular 21st century fashion, a tight-fitting leather jacket and a jeans skirt could be fit. Walk-in Closet

Hunting of your own style

According to Reiman, pre-assembled vintage clothing packages are of particular interest to those who want to wear used fashion but need help finding clothes and finding their own style.

– They do not necessarily have the time to get around all different flea markets. Many people need support in combining and laying clothes, Reiman says.

For example, the 21st century street fans would be suitable for an army-patterned top, a corset and a jeans decorated with rivets. Walk-in Closet

According to Reiman, there have been no returns from the clothing packages, even if it can be agreed upon. Although the assembly service with forms, consultations and assurance is comprehensive, it is not perfect according to Reiman.

– We are able to curate the packages according to the customer’s preferences, but of course we can’t see in the customer’s head to see what kind of feeling he wants.

Expert’s view

Sustainable fashion researcher Linda Turunen Aalto University follows the sale of used clothing packages with interest. According to him, selling curated clothing packages indicates the professionalization of the fashion sales used.

Turunen emphasizes that in sustainable fashion consumption, the importance of the clothes purchased purchased.

– If there are only one or two clothes in the clothing package that can be used, and the rest will remain in the wardrobe, it is perhaps the biggest problem for durability. This will change the owner of the clothing piece, but there will be no more use.

According to Turunen, it is easier to get the use of the clothes when the clothes purchased are suitable for pre -owned clothing. It is also worth investing in ordering a clothing package.

– As such, there is a lot of work to order a package if you want to get the package that suits you. It requires a lot of reflection on what you are looking for.

According to Turunen, the services of curated clothing packages are well suited to vintage clothing, where finding and combining clothes requires special expertise.

– I can imagine that such services could also be used when you want to adopt a trendy style at once, but you don’t really know what it is about.

However, according to Turunen, consumption only to keep up with a certain trend is not sustainable. He therefore calls for consideration of used clothing in the same way as other consumption.

– Buying used clothes should be favored, but at the same time it is good to see it as a procurement channel among others. Over consumption is on display in all procurement channels, so you should also pay attention to when buying used clothes. At the heart of sustainable consumption is how much clothing is finally used.

A clear Scandinavian style could be offered, for example, a white biker jacket and a simple stylish shoulder bag. Walk-in Closet

Reiman hopes that clothing packages will help customers make more thoughtful shopping decisions.

– Often, when circling flea markets, impulsive purchases are made more easily. When ordering a package, you have to think about what you are looking for and what types of products you want.
