First chances for the KSC

Hertha started nervous on Sunday in front of 60,000 fans in the Olympic Stadium. After just five minutes, the KSC had two good chances from David Herold and Marvin Wanitzek and came dangerously in front of the goal – initiated by mistakes in the Berlin back team. First Toni Leistner failed, then it was Marton Dardai.

It took 15 minutes until the first Hertha chance. After a long ball by Maurice Krattenmacher, Dawid Kownacki put the leather in the penalty area across Fabian Reese, but he stepped over the ball.

Hertha’s Krattenmacher hits the crossbar

But the Hertha fed. Just a little later, Krattenmacher pulled the ball onto the goal in a quick attack, but only hit the crossbar. KSC keeper Hans Christian Bernat would have been powerless. The “Bigest chance in the game”also found Leitl, who admitted that Hertha “Don’t create enough” could.

As a result, the game was mainly competitive in midfield and played primarily between the penalty areas. So the 0-0 was in accordance with performance. Eichner praised: “I saw a lot of racy duels that have tipped on our side.”

Berlin’s Eichhorn is becoming the latest Second division player

Berlin started with the first chance in the second round. After a nice pass from Mickaël Cuisance, Reese appeared in front of the KSC goal, but pulled too hastily and missed the box.

The Hertha remained as a result of agile, partly stuck in the KSC half, but at most only came to half chances. Basically, it was easy to defend for the guests from Baden.

Historical happened in the 68th minute. Then Berlin’s coach Stefan Leitl Kennet Eichhorn changed and made him the youngest second division player in history. At the age of 16 and 14 days, Eichhorn replaced the previous record holder Efe-Kaan Sihlaroglu, who was used at the KSC in 2021 at the age of 16 and 142 days.

KSC turns up again

At the beginning of the final quarter of an hour, the guests appeared again. But Marcel Franke narrowly put a header past the goal. Fabian Scheusener narrowly missed the ball after a nice flank and Wanitzek also cleared in front of the goal. The clearest KSC chances had Nicolai Rapp, whose header was just on the goal and again Wanitzek with a volley.

Incidentally, Eichhorn could not set an accents and because the Karlsruher was at some point with a point in Berlin, it remained 0-0. Because Berliner and Karlsruhe fans sang their fan friendship for over 90 minutes, it was at least very atmospheric. Occasionally whistles from the east curve understood Leitl: “We are Hertha and we have to claim to play the promotion to the Bundesliga.”
