The black and yellow collect a sensitive defeat in the season preparation. Sunday evening was actually all about Mats Hummels – until a shock let the stadium silence.
Disappointment for Borussia Dortmund when the club legend Mats Hummels: In the last test of the preparation before the Bundesliga season start, BVB lost 1-2 (0-1) against Juventus Turin on Sunday evening. Andrea Cambiaso (16th, 53rd) met with a double pack for the deserved victory of the guests, Maxi Beier (89.) met for the late connection.
The game was initially all about the last appearance of Mats Hummels in the BVB jersey. The long-time defender of the Dortmund was replaced in his farewell game after 18 minutes, Niklas Süle came into the game for him-and ensured the shock moment of the evening: after an apparently serious injury, the ex-international had to be replaced shortly before half-time.
With Hummels as captain on the field, BVB started the game with a committed manner and initially had everything under control. But the guests from Italy took the lead with their first offensive action: after a flank from Pierre Kalulu, Andrea Cambiaso escaped the Dortmund defense and scored from a short distance to 1-0 (16th minute).
Just a minute later, Hummels was passed on the bench under Standing Ovations and by a trellis by all players. Even before the kick-off, the long-time defense chief was welcomed by the 81,365 fans in the sold-out Dortmund stadium with jubilant storms and Mats-Hummelsamschören.
Niklas Süle came into play for the future football pensioner, who apparently had to support the space with problems on the ankle shortly before the break and left it back to limp. The next damper followed just a few minutes after the restart: After a dream combination of the guests, Cambiaso again converted a double pack (53.) from an acute angle.
After that, not really much went on the pitch. Many change was lost. Some BVB fans left the stadium minutes before the end of the game. In doing so, they missed the honor goal of substitute Maximilian Beier (89th).
90th minute: The regular playing time has now expired. Juventus gets another corner kick. But it is no longer dangerous. Shortly afterwards it ends and the referee whistles the game.
89th minute: The connection goal for BVB is 1-2. After an attack on Couto and Brandt, Beier came to the goal in the penalty area with his back to the goal. The attacker chases the ball under the crossbar with a lot of force from an extremely pointed angle. An absolute dream goal that at least makes a good last impression in this game.
