Children’s center in Bloei will be the new owner of the former school De Veldwikke in Darp. The primary school closed in 2021 and the municipality of Westerveld wanted to get rid of the building.

In flowering, the building has already been rented from the municipality in recent times. Childcare turned out to be one of the two serious interested parties. The municipality of Westerveld had hung a price tag of 450,000 euros on the building, but also focused on a good plan. Not the highest bid would be decisive, but the combination of a bid and a plan that benefits the environment.

Children’s center in Bloom was therefore the best. “For us, the building represents much more than stones and land, it is really a meeting place for us. So it’s super nice if we can stay,” says Lijanne Mestemaker, owner of the children’s center.

Despite the fact that it looks good in bloom, Mestemaker will be exciting in the coming weeks. “We have to wait now for the entire procedure to go.”

The sale is therefore via a point system and therefore the children’s center had to submit a plan. “We would like to do the building and square and it must remain accessible to local residents. We are already working on a working group Groen and we have contact with local residents how we can do that best. We want it to be nicer.”

When the sale is final, Mestemaker will celebrate a small party, but more importantly: “We stay tasty as we are.”
