It is summer recess in The Hague. During this period between the fall of the cabinet and the start of a new election campaign, we invite writers, scientists and thinkers to talk about the political time in which we live. Because so much has happened in the past year and everything went so fast, we like to zoom out a bit.
In this fourth – and last – Haagse Affairs in the summer, an old acquaintance is a guest: Mark Kranenburg. Although he is officially retired, he still writes a lot for NRC in a special genre: political necrology. In this episode you will hear about four prominent politicians who died in 2025 and about the art of writing a necrology
