The 2026 Winter Olympics helped biathlon star Lisa Vittozzi on the way to the comeback as an incentive. According to her own statement, the Italian ski hunter does not yet know how things will continue.

Lisa Vittozzi completely missed the last biathlon season due to back problems. On the way to the comeback, the 30-year-old kept showing the 2026 Winter Olympics (February 6th to 22nd) in her Italian homeland.

“I often think of the Olympics. That’s why I couldn’t give up. This is my motivation. This winter I was in a bad mood. Very depressed,” revealed Vittozzi to “TV2”.

The overall World Cup winner of 2023/24 starts at the weekend at the traditional blink festival in Norway.

Biathlon star Lisa Vittozzi wants to think “in the here and now”

But what’s next for you after 2026 Olympics? “Now I concentrate on the Olympics. I have learned that I have to think in the here and now and not the past or the future. This is my mentality. I don’t know what to do after the Olympics,” Vittozzi replied to a question.

The Italian explained that she was confident at the big season highlight in biathlon. Vittozzi has already won two gold medals at World Championships. So far, “only” the 2018 bronze medal in the Mixed relay “only” jumped in winter games.

She is “confident that I am ready for the Olympics. I don’t know if it is enough for a medal, but I believe in my skills. There are so many that can win. But yes, I’m back,” said Vittozzi.

The two-time biathlon world champion received prominent support during the season preparation: Vittozzi trained in Ruhpolding alongside Franziska Preuss.
