“I reward for performance”
Verbal “slaps in the face” for ex-entrepreneur professional

At FC Schalke 04, Anton Donkor is anything but round. Right at the beginning of the new season, the former professional of Eintracht Braunschweig received a deep blow.
When looking at the game report sheet on the 1st matchday of the new season in the 2nd Bundesliga, the name of Anton Donkor was sought in vain in Schalke 04’s list of squad. The 27 -year -old left outer player was not part of the line -up of coach Miron Muslić for the game against Hertha BSC (2-1).
At the press conference on Thursday before the upcoming away game at the 1st FC Kaiserslautern (Saturday, 8.30 p.m.), the trainer explained his decision – and thus put another public shot in front of the bug.
When asked about Donkor’s dissatisfaction with his absence in the squad, Muslić became clear: “I speak to every player and communicate very clearly with every player. And I rate and reward for performance,” said the S04 coach-in order to push after: “Accordingly, it was clear for me.”
Muslić receives approval for his clear words on social media. “What a slap in the face, but absolutely right,” writes an X user. “Honor,” writes another. However, many viewers agree on one: “This is clear.”
Conversely, this means that Donkor’s appearances in summer preparation did not like the new coach of the district club at all. Against Hertha, it was not even enough for the former professional of Eintracht Braunschweig, who was called as a “machine” by squad planner Ben Manga during his obligation last summer, for a place on the bench. It is open whether he is at least part of the squad against Kaiserslautern.
At Eintracht Braunschweig, Donkor had earned a regular place on the left between 2022 and 2024. Born in Göttingen, the BTSV had a total of 68 competitive games (five goals, four templates) – and finally aroused the desires of the ambitious Schalke.
For Donkor, however, the first year in Gelsenkirchen was bumpy. Although he was counted together in 28 competitive games, he was mostly only allowed in the final phase. He played only three games over the entire 90 minutes. He should also have imagined the start of the new season differently. It is not only Donkor himself, but obviously also coach Muslić.
