Sébastien Haller was already awarded last season, now his time in Dortmund is apparently final. The attacker changes back to old place of work.
The farewell to Sébastien Haller from Dortmund is imminent. According to information from the “Bild”, the 31-year-old will join FC Utrecht-the club in which he had already successfully played between 2015 and 2017. The BVB and the player are said to have agreed on a separation this summer.
Haller had already been awarded last season. First he played for CD Léganes, then for a long time in his career for Utrecht. To Dortmund he switched from Amsterdam in 2022. At that time, BVB invested 31 million euros in the striker. But cancer including the following chemotherapy put Haller out of action for months.
After his return, he initially showed himself accurate and, on the last matchday of the 2022/2023 season, against Mainz 05 a penalty. That is why Dortmund was also only runner -up behind FC Bayern. As a result, Haller never really got foot again with the “black and yellow”.
Now the chapter in Dortmund should finally end. The attacker’s contract is still running for a year, but according to “Bild” he receives an extremely high salary of around ten million euros a year. Means: Haller’s departure would generally be a financial relief for BVB.
The Bundesliga club will probably not receive a transfer from the Dutch first division club. Rather, Dortmund will apparently even pay a severance payment for the Ivorer. This should be two million euros.
