A Super Bowl half-time show with Metallica? Why not! If Lars Ulrich is based on drummer, that would definitely be a desirable scenario. In a current interview, the drummer explains that the band would be more than ready to take on this big task.

Super Bowl 2026 in San Francisco
The special thing: The Super Bowl takes place in Santa Clara near San Francisco in 2026 – exactly where Metallica is based. The ACT has not yet been determined for the legendary half -time show. Ulrich could well imagine taking over the performance. He reveals this in the radio show by Howard Stern on “Siriusxm”. When asked whether Metallica is interested in the slot, the drummer replies:
“Damn it, of course we would do it! Secondly, it would be a dream to do that in San Francisco, and it would fit perfectly … As someone who represents San Francisco worldwide and has been promoting San Francisco and our love for Bay Area for decades, this part is perfect. In the end, the decision is not with us.”
It remains to be seen whether the Mega show of Metallica actually occurs at the Super Bowl 2026.
Plan B: Las Vegas Sphere?
In the same interview, Howard Stern also appeals to the rumors that the band was under discussion for appearances in the famous Las Vegas Sphere. The spherical high-tech multi-purpose hall was opened in 2023 and has already housed big names like U2 and Eagles.
To comment from Stern, Ulrich says that he will not confirm anything because there is nothing to confirm. At the same time, he also does not want to deny it, since all band members are huge fans of the event location.
Future project after a big tour
“All of our managers and production employees were on site and looked at it. It is something we consider, [aber] Nothing has been carved in stone or already decided. It is something that we will watch at some point after completing the 2026 tour, ”he added.
Metallica planned a large stadium tour through Europe for 2026 – including stops in Frankfurt and Berlin. Gojira, Knocked Loose, Pantera and Avatar are announced as support acts.
