The former F1 boss at the Daily Mail: “Now he is tired. Continuing to run he would take around. Why risk? Ferrari, there are two young pilots on whom you should focus”
Sisceled, sad, disappointed to the point of defining useless. Lewis Hamilton made a sensation with the outburst after qualifications in Hungary, admitting that he could not make the difference with Ferrari. According to Bernie Ecclestone, the latest not very exciting results should induce seven times world champion in F1 to evaluate the idea of the retreat. The former boss of the Circus spoke of it in no uncertain terms to the British daily Mail newspaper. And, in addition to the pungent advice towards Hamilton, the manager was also frank also against Ferrari, inviting her to evaluate two interesting profiles.
TIREDNESS
–
Initially Ecclestone has identified the phase that the compatriot would be going through in his career: “Lewis has been a great talent and probably still is. But when they reach the top, all the greats of sport can aim for a single direction, or downwards”. So Bernie continued his analysis: “Hamilton has been tired, he has been doing this job for a lifetime. He has to reset himself and do something totally different from Motorsport. Maybe he is not yet thinking about it, even if it would have been appropriate to start evaluating it some time ago”.
WITHDRAW
–
Therefore, according to Ecclestone, mental and physical fatigue would have started breaking into the former champion. Hence the invitation to take the farewell to the races into consideration: “Hamilton is not a cheating, but it would be made fun of if he continues to run. He should stop now. If I were his manager, I would say to Ferrari: ‘Is there anyone able to replace him? Lewis is ready to get aside’. I would like his contract to be honored, because the stable has taken it with an important goal. They could agree like this. ” The former F1 number 1 added: “Hamilton has already won seven World Championships, there is no need to take further risks. I don’t wish him anything wrong, but he is no longer fighting for the title. He would not make sense to risk staying two years in bed because he has a broken back or something else ugly”.
Substitutes
–
Therefore, from the point of view of Ecclestone, Ferrari should evaluate the hypothesis of a farewell to Hamilton. But who could replace it? The British has clear ideas: “I would try to take Isack Hadjar from Racing Bulls. He did very well in his first year. He is also a very good boy. Or I would focus on Gabriel Bortoleto. He has talent. Both are very valid”. Both Hadjar and Bortoleto are at the debut in F1 and are not even 21 years old. The French, linked to Red Bull, has racimulated 21 points, seven more than the Brazilian, who is well appearing at the wheel of the Sauber.
