There was unrest to a possible obligation by Shon Weissman through Fortuna Düsseldorf. Now the Israelis consultant team has expressed a controversy – and told.

After a controversy about the ultimately burst of Shon Weissman by Fortuna Düsseldorf, the management of the Israeli national player has now publicly commented – and found sharp words.

The player regret his online activities “from the bottom of my heart”, explained his management to the “Rheinische Post”. “But people in Germany seem to judge immediately,” said they were irritated by the reaction of the public.

Previously, there had been initial speculation on a possible obligation of Weissman on Monday. The 28-year-old is said to have already stayed with the medical check in Düsseldorf. But then Weissman’s social media posts came into focus from last October. Shortly after the attack by the terrorist organization Hamas on Israel, Weissman had liked contributions in which Gaza’s extension was requested. When this became known, there was a strong protest from the Fortuna fan scene.

The club reacted. Fortuna Düsseldorf said in a message: “We dealt intensively with Shon Weissman, but finally decided to refrain from an obligation.” However, the association did not give specific reasons.

The player’s management now emphasized: “Shon only liked a few Twitter posts and immediately deleted this likes,” said management. This happened one day after the attack when the “mood in Israel was completely revenge and deep feelings of anger”. Weissman’s management would have liked “that people in Germany would have more space for repentance and understanding of mistakes”. At FC Granada, for whom Weissman last played, fans had asked for the player’s expression.

After the broken change, Weissman released a statement on Instagram on Tuesday. He did not go into the likes he made. He said it was “both possible and necessary to defend themselves against the suffering of innocent people on both sides”. At the same time, he emphasized that a person would “always stand by his country, regardless of what is happening”. He assumes criticism, but it hurts “that the entire context was not taken into account”.
