Almost five months after the tightening scandal at the Nordic Ski World Cup, the World Association FIS announced a timely decision on any punishments.

In the title fights in Trondheim, the suits were manipulated by several Norwegian ski jumpers. “FIS expects the decision to be announced in the coming days. Whether and what sanctions will be imposed is at the discretion of the FIS Ethics Commission”the association said on Wednesday.

Lock against team

On March 8, a secretly recorded video in Trondheim triggered a tangible scandal. It was seen how the jump suits by Olympic champion Marius Lindvik and Johann Andre Forfang were manipulated with a needle and thread. Both jumpers were disqualified by the Großchanze immediately after the World Cup competition, in which Lindvik initially won silver. The entire World Cup team had been blocked for the rest of the season, but this lock was lifted again later.

The months of examination included “38 important witness surveys” and the examination of “88 important evidence”, according to the FIS. The final report, which forms the basis for the decision as to whether charges against individuals or organizations will be charged with the FIS Ethics Commission, is now available.

Springer Confidence

All Norwegian jumpers deny that they knew about manipulation, the coaching team around the later dismissed chief coach Magnus Brevig was blamed. If Lindvik is revoked the gold medal by the normal hill, the second -placed Andreas Wellinger would receive the title.
