Maxime Soulas convinces in the first Danish league with a strong performance. His reward for this is delivered to him in a wheelbarrow.

The French football professional Maxime Soulas has been rewarded in an unusual way for his performance in the first Danish league. The defender of special jyske Fodbold received a wheelbarrow full of potatoes after the 3-2 victory against FC Nordsjaelland last weekend as an award for the game-the food package of the special variety was 55 kilograms.

Soulas had achieved early 1-0 in the game on Sunday. “I gave the potatoes of the club canteen and a part was donated to a soup kitchen,” the 26-year-old told the AFP news agency on Tuesday. The unusual price went into the account of the matchday sponsor. “He found the idea funny and now the story has gone around the world,” said club spokesman Jacob Ravn.

Sponsors also use unusual ideas in other Scandinavian countries. At the Norwegian club Bryne FK, the youth club of starstormer Erling Haaland, there were several curious awards in 2025 alone: in April Axel Kryger received a living lamb, in May Alfred Scriver took home two fish and five breads based on a biblical story. Eggs have already been distributed pallets.
