Wladimir Cscheburin has been in office at Zalgiris Vilnius for six years. When it comes to fans, there is no seventh year.

The patience of the fans is apparently at the end: At the home game by Zalgiris Vilnius against the leaders of Zalgiris Kaunas, supporters of the Lithuanian capital club set an unmistakable sign – and virtually packed the “suitcase” themselves to her trainer Vladimir Tscheburin.

Shortly before the kick-off on Monday evening, around two dozen travel cases flew from the stands to the field of the Zalgiris stadium. The scene ensured a multi -minute delay in the start of the game. The appearance of the fans was clearly directed against the coach of the Lithuanian first division club.

Tscheburin reacted-although not expected from the fans: the 60-year-old applauded from the edge of the field. However, he did not announce a resignation. Even in the morning after the 1-2 defeat against Kaunas, he was in office.

Tscheburin has been on the sidelines of Zalgiris Vilnius since 2019, but recently the criticism of the Kazakh has become significantly louder. Especially the early end in qualifying for Conference League against Pafos FC from Cyprus caused resentment. In the current season that is played in the calendar year, the club is only seventh out of ten after 21 games.
