Akris is pleased to announce the opening of his first boutique in Chicago.
The Swiss fashion house announced the opening of its official LinkedIn account and underlined the importance of this new location. It is located in the 101 East Oak Street in the heart of the renowned gold coast district. The area comprises 350 square meters and offers the latest collections from Akris, Akris Punto and Akris Accessories.
The boutique takes up the new design concept, which was developed in collaboration with David Chipperfield Architects Milan. Akris was a concern to preserve the rich history of Chicago and in particular the classic red-clinker aesthetics of the building. Kriemler and Chipperfield jointly designed a new metal glass facade that was carefully attached to the existing masonry facade, whereby the existing surfaces and architectural details were largely preserved.

Out of respect, it was important to us to maintain the historical facade and at the same time bring something new-a metal-glass facade in the best sense of David Chipperfield’s architecture.
