After Laura Dahlmeier’s death in the mountains of Pakistan, her parents had asked for privacy. Now show the first small public gesture of mourning.
The death of Laura Dahlmeier in the mountains of Pakistan is now around a week. Last Monday, the biathlon Olympic champion was hit by a rockfall when trying to climb the Laila Peak in the Karakorum Mountains. After a two -day recovery attempt, she was declared dead on Wednesday. According to the previous findings, Dahlmeier was probably dead after the rockfall.
So far, Dahlmeier’s family had only briefly spoke out in the communication of her management about the death of the 31-year-old and also asked for respect for her privacy. Now, however, they have been setting a small public sign of grief in their home town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Bavaria.
Dahlmeier’s father has a shop for interior in the place. A photo of Dahlmeier can now be found in the shop window of the business, which she shows with arms ripped out with victorious arms in the mountains. The carpenter on which the picture is located is decorated with some grave candles and flowers. On one of the flowers there is a band with the inscription “Forever Laura”.
Dahlmeier had already ended her biathlon career in 2019 at the age of 25, including to devote her passion for mountaineering. Since then she had trained as a mountain guide, worked in her home country at the mountain rescue service and had climbed some of the most difficult mountains in the world.
