SV Wehen Wiesbaden scored the first three points of the new third division season. Through a late goal, the SVWW now greets the top of the table.
SV Wehen Wiesbaden won the first game of the new season. Against second division relegated Ulm it was 3-1 (1-0) on Sunday evening.
First of all, a lot played in midfield before the SVWW broke the spell. With a little luck, a pass from Moritz Flotho found Ryan Johansson, who only had to insert to 1-0 (32nd minute). Three minutes later, Fatih Kaya almost scored the second goal, but Ulm goalkeeper Christian Ortag just fished his header out of the corner.
Kaya hits and forgives further opportunities
Justin Janitzek was defensive when he scratched a ball for his beaten goalkeeper Florian Stritzel in the 43rd minute. The lead to the break was well deserved.
Even after the restart, the SVWW was fully there: Kaya scored the 2-0 (46.) from newcomer Lukas Schleimer. The SVWW now had the game under control, but missed expanding the lead. Kaya missed the biggest chances again when he ran alone on Ortag, but pushed the ball past the gate (53.), and when he flee free -standing from a short distance (73.).
Ulm captain Reichert is seriously injured
The second half was overshadowed by a serious injury to Ulm captain Johannes Reichert, who had to be brought off the pitch after a collision. Nevertheless, the sparrows came again: Jan Boller used a misunderstanding in the SVWW defensive for a shot that was deflected to the goal (84th).
On the other hand, Kaya could have restored the old distance by a penalty, but shot past the goal (88th). A relief attack in injury time then led to 3: 1 when the substitute Nikolas Agrafiotis hit (90.+10) and the Wiesbadener even shot to the top of the table.
Special feature: SV Wehen Wiesbaden is one of only three teams that now has three points on the account. Seven of the ten games on the first third division match day ended.
