Cleaning the canals is also going well, a Waternet spokeswoman indicates. According to her, the amount of waste is comparable to last year.
“A lot of plastic has been found, about 500 kilos is the first estimate,” she says. “That is a lot, because plastic weighs little.” According to her, it includes many cups, bottles and styrofoam holders for drinks.

Waternet is also busy tidying up the canals tomorrow and Tuesday. “There is still a lot of plastic between the boats. It is not ready yet.”
