Thousands of chickens died in the fire that broke out on Sunday evening on the grounds of an agricultural company in Vessem. This announced the Brabant-Zuidoost safety region around one hour Sunday night. The fire raged in two sheds of the company on Keijenhurkseweg and spread to the chicken stable, which was next to it.

There were about nine thousand chickens in the stable. According to a spokesperson for the Security Region, it is not yet completely clear exactly how much animals have saved the fire and smoke.

The fire brigade had the fire under midnight under control, but is still busy with re -extinguishing for a few hours. The cause of the fire is unknown.

The fire brigade was pulled out with many people and large equipment. Four extinguishing vehicles were used. To provide this with sufficient extinguishing water, an extra water transport system and extra water tanks were also scaled up.

One of the two barns was hit by a blazing fire. Among other things, it contained a number of machines and a storage tank with 2000 liters of diesel. A big fire also raged in the other shed. It is not known what was housed therein.

The safety region further announced that there are no solar panels on the roofs of the sheds that have been destroyed by the fire. Near those sanding is also a stable with cows in it. As far as we know, they have not been in danger.
