Aino Morko, an artist, says that in her Instagram stories, she is present at the Flow Festival despite the boycotting requirements for the event.

Iltalehti previously reported that the Flow Festival has been criticized because the Superstruct Entertainment, which owns the festival, was sold to the KKR investment company in 2024. KKR has financial connections to Israeli companies.

The Flow Strike campaign considers the festival’s links problematic due to the military activities of Israel in Gaza. The campaign encourages the audience to boycott the festival and urges artists to participate in work stop.

Morko says in the Instagram stories on display for 24 hours that he was already attached to the event last summer.

– I feel great that I was not aware of the Supermstruct link owned by Flow then to KKR, which in turn invests in a genocide to the state. I am also disappointed that I have been buzzed in a situation that does not match my values, Morko writes in his story.

Morko emphasizes that boycotting is a great and easy way to “do activism”. However, he says that he will not cancel his performance due to the costs of it.

– I just can’t cancel it financially and it is infinitely distressing me. I have talked to many people and weighed all the options, says Morko.

Morko says he realizes that some of the audience is disappointed. However, he says he supports boycotts.

– It is not an option for me not to show and I am grateful that I have an audience for it. As for many years, I will continue to speak for free Palestine, including future festivals, says Morko.

He says he will donate the income from the gig to the Sumud -Finland Palestinian Network.

At the end of his stories, Morko claims that in his opinion, the Palestinian state has to be recognized and the weapons trade with Israel must end.

Earlier this weekend, the artist Yeboyah, or Amare Kuukka, also told her Instagram stories that she would not attend the Flow Festival. Kuukka said he refused to perform as a visiting artist and participate in the panel discussion. He also does not attend the event as a visitor.

– The reason for the boy is that I do not want to participate in an event that I would support a company that finances genocide, Kuukka opened his decision in his stories.
