It takes him a total of twenty years to build the carriage, because Riny comes face to face with crafts that he has never performed himself. “For example, editing leather, gilding the carriage, capitoning the inner lining and editing the edges of the glass.”
A layman will say that it is a copy of the golden carriage of the Oranges, but that is anything but. Riny lets his own creativity run free in the design. “The horse heads on top are based on our own horses and on the painting on the outside you see all the animal groups again. It is an ode to the animals and nature.”
Return to the people
The carriage is now completely finished and does not continue to dust in his workshop as far as Riny is concerned. “Because Wilhelmina got the golden carriage from the people, I conceived the plan to give this carriage back to the people.”
